Geographic Information System (GIS)

First Tennessee Development District’s GIS program was created to provide mapping and spatial analyses to City and County Governments within our District.  These capabilities will provide an additional tool to local governments and other entities in decision making processes related to environmental management, solid waste programs, housing rehabilitation, water and sewer services and transportation.

GIS capabilities allow several datasets to be combined into one and produce maps that relay necessary information.  GIS links spatial data with tabular data files and this information is then displayed in map format.

Data is stored in layers, which allows the users to view the data in several formats.  The amp is the end result once the data is in place.  With GIS, the end products are specifically tailored to meet the needs of individuals, agencies, local government, and the private sector.  Our goal is to build and maintain an accurate and reliable database to meet the growing demand in our communities for technologically based mapping services.

Services offered include:

Land Use Mapping
Zone Mapping
Utilities Mapping and Data Collection
Annexation Maintenance
Fire Boundary Mapping
Solid Waste Coverage Areas and Collection Routes
