Title VI
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the federal law that protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of their race, color, or national origin in programs that receives federal funding.
Approximately 30 federal agencies provide federal financial assistance in the form of funds, training, and technical (or other) assistance to State and local governments, and both non-profit and private organizations.
These recipients of federal assistance operate programs and deliver benefits or services to individuals to achieve the goals of the legislation that authorizes the program.

The First Tennessee Development District ensures compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000d) and related statutes and regulations to the end that no person shall be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of, or be be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance on the grounds of race, color, or national origin.
