A Bouquet of Thanks: A Special Surprise at the Johnson City American Job Center

Sometimes the greatest recognition comes from the people we serve and sometimes, it arrives with flowers!
Three dedicated team members at the Johnson City American Job Center (AJC) recently received a heartwarming surprise after helping a customer successfully find employment.
Linda and Sheila, both members of the Welcome Function Team, joined forces with Ruth Potts, Unemployment Agent, to assist a customer in his job search.
Thanks to their teamwork, guidance, and encouragement, the customer successfully secured a job. But what happened next made the experience even more memorable!
Grateful for the support he received, the customer returned to the AJC with a special surprise: beautiful bouquets of flowers for each of the three women who helped him along the way. It was a simple but meaningful gesture that spoke volumes about the impact of their efforts.
Stories like this highlight the important role American Job Centers play in connecting individuals with employment opportunities and career resources.
The First Tennessee Development District (FTDD) serves as the Administrative Entity for the Northeast Tennessee American Job Center system and provides staff support to the Northeast Tennessee Local Workforce Development Board. Together, these efforts help strengthen workforce development and connect residents with valuable employment resources across the region.
With eight locations throughout Northeast Tennessee, AJCs provide a wide range of FREE services to job seekers, students, veterans, and individuals looking to build new skills or explore career opportunities.
Services include job search assistance, résumé development, interview preparation, career workshops, skills assessments, and access to education and workforce training opportunities. AJCs also host hiring events, provide free computer and internet access, offer priority services for veterans, and connect individuals with additional community resources and support programs.
Whether someone is entering the workforce for the first time, changing careers, or getting back on their feet after unemployment, American Job Centers are there to help every step of the way.
For Linda, Sheila, and Ruth, the unexpected flowers were a wonderful reminder that their work is about more than helping someone find a job, it's about making a difference in someone's life.
A big thank you to these three ladies and all our AJC team members who work every day to connect Northeast Tennesseans with opportunities for a brighter future!
