FTDD & MTAS Partner on Training and Development Series in NETN


The First Tennessee Development District (FTDD) is proud to partner with the University of Tennessee’s Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) to launch a regional training and development series designed to strengthen leadership and workforce capacity in cities and towns across Northeast Tennessee.


FTDD and MTAS share similar goals, one of which is to equip local governments with the tools they need to thrive. With a shared commitment to building stronger communities, both organizations focus on empowering public officials and employees through technical assistance and strategic planning. This partnership reflects our mutual dedication to promoting good governance, sustainable development, and a resilient public workforce across our region.


The first session begins July 9, 2025, in Johnson City at the FTDD Office located at 3211 N. Roan Street, Johnson City, Tennessee.


Session 1: Making the Shift to Leadership


This dynamic workshop helps new leaders navigate the often-difficult transition from peer to supervisor. Participants will gain insight into:


  • Key mindset shifts for new leaders

  • The influence of effective leadership

  • Practical strategies to lead with confidence and clarity


Future Sessions Will Cover:


  • Customer Service: Build a culture of excellence from the top down.

  • Conflict Management: Learn proven techniques to turn tension into teamwork.

  • Navigating a Multigenerational Workforce: Adapt and lead across diverse age groups with purpose and flexibility.
