Community leaders, developers, investors, and economic development professionals are invited to attend the upcoming Opportunity Zones 2.0 meeting hosted by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development in partnership with First Tennessee Development District, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, United States Department of Agriculture, and Johnson County.
This in-person and virtual convening is designed to help county executives, municipal leaders, and community stakeholders prepare for the Opportunity Zones 2.0 redesignation process while exploring strategies for long-term economic investment and revitalization.
Opportunity Zones are economically distressed communities designated to encourage private investment through federal tax incentives. The program aims to stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and strengthen communities through strategic public-private-philanthropic partnerships.
Attendees will learn more about the potential impact of Opportunity Zones 2.0, including:
Business development and brownfield redevelopment opportunities
Retail, commercial, and tourism development
Community and rural development initiatives
Workforce housing opportunities
Investment opportunities in operating businesses
The event is open to developers, investors, financial institutions, community development organizations, elected officials, accountants, attorneys, nonprofit organizations, and local citizens interested in learning more about how Opportunity Zones can positively impact communities across the region.
“Events like this are critical because they bring together the leaders, organizations, and investors needed to create meaningful opportunities in our rural communities,” said Bill Forrester. “Opportunity Zones 2.0 has the potential to drive long-term investment, strengthen local economies, and improve quality of life for residents throughout Northeast Tennessee.”
