The First Tennessee Development District is excited to announce that an update to the Regional Wage & Benefit Survey will launch soon. Designed for the region’s manufacturers, the survey will collect vital information on wages and benefit structure and provide valuable insight into the true cost of doing business in Northeast Tennessee, while maintaining the confidentiality of respondents.
Sensible Surveys, the vendor for this project, will deploy a survey that will not only collect data, but provide the results to every single employer to who participates. This means that employers, economic development professionals, local manufacturers, and prospective industries will have far more accurate data when it comes to decision making on future investment, potential expansions, or relocation to the region.
In order to be responsive to the needs of local manufacturers, the Sensible Surveys platform permits users to save their responses and complete the survey at their own speed or as their schedule allows. This feature also means that any company that completed a survey in 2021 can quickly and easily update their profile this year, saving time.
“The more we know about the region, the better we can serve the region,” said Mark Stevans, project lead for the survey, “and it fulfills one of the basic functions of the FTDD to bring economic developers, chambers of commerce, and industry together to deliver something like this for Northeast Tennessee.” Next steps include convening the region’s chambers, economic developers, and other interested parties to discuss the new survey and strategy to reach the most respondents.
In the survey conducted in 2021, the FTDD collaborated with local economic development organizations across Northeast Tennessee to tailor the survey to the region and disseminate information to industry partners. The update this year will be no different, which should ensure a detailed and thorough result.
Results from the survey should be available by early February 2023.
